About Upstate Home Answers

We're an independent guide and free referral line for plumbing problems in Greenville, Spartanburg, Anderson and Pickens counties, South Carolina. We're not a plumbing company.

What we do

  • Guides that start with safety. Each guide tells you how to make the problem safe first, then when to call and what to ask.
  • Small tools. A ZIP check for our area, a call-ready planner and a before-you-hire checklist. They run in your browser.
  • A free referral line. When you call, a short automated prompt asks for your ZIP code. If an independent provider who serves your ZIP is available, your call is connected.

What we don't do

  • We don't do plumbing work or send technicians. The providers you reach are independent businesses.
  • We don't choose which provider answers, and we don't see or compare their prices.
  • We don't rate, rank or guarantee providers or their work.
  • We aren't an emergency service. If you smell gas, leave and call 911 from a safe place.

How we make money

Our referral line is run with a referral partner. When a qualifying call is connected to a provider, we may earn a fee. You don't pay us anything. The provider you hire sets its own prices and terms, so ask for a written estimate before work starts.

How we write our guides

  1. Research and drafting with AI assistance. We use AI tools to research topics and draft text. We say so on every page.
  2. Every fact is checked against a primary source. That means manufacturers, government offices, utilities and safety organizations. Each guide lists its sources.
  3. Safety comes before any call button. If a problem can be dangerous, the safety steps come first.
  4. No prices. Prices depend on the job and the provider, so we don't publish them. We help you compare written estimates instead.
  5. No reviews or ratings. We don't publish testimonials, star ratings or "best plumber" lists.
  6. Honest dates. The date at the top of a guide changes only when its content actually changes. Each source in the list shows the date we last checked it.

Our guides are general information, not professional advice. Follow your equipment's manual, and hire a licensed professional for work you're not comfortable doing.
